I am sure everyone who visits FishAssist would agree there is nothing better then a day on the water. It doesn't matter what species you are fishing, or how, just being on a lake or river is one of the best forms of fun and relaxation. For too many of us it's difficult to find the time (or funds) to get away from our daily lives. What many people don't understand is that even the smallest pond or stream holds quality fish. My suggestion - FISH EVERY PUDDLE!
In the community where I live there are 5 small lakes or ponds, some near parks others just off the golf course. In my town, there are numerous feeder creeks and dozens of community ponds/lakes which all hold fish. Some of these "honey holes" have even been stocked for community fishing events with both bass and catfish. Over the years we have caught largemouth bass over 5lbs, catfish over 10lbs, crappie over 10" and bluegills bigger than your palm- not to mention a few gar just for fun.
In addition to great fishing these waters are a great place to teach kids to fish. One of my favorite places to fish is a small pond which boarders a local park. My daughter can fish, and if the bite is slow she can run over to the park until dad hooks one for her to reel in.
Next time you pass that stream, creek, pond, lake or puddle, pull over and cast a line. You might be surprised at what's biting.
