I've been fishing since I was a kid, I still remember my first trip to Lake Fork with my Dad and brother and the feeling of catching my first big bass...I think that's when the fishing fever hit me.  Since then I've had the opportunity to use many different types of lures, techniques, rods, reels etc..but my all time favorite is fishing topwater!

Now don't get me wrong, I'm all about using the best method for the season, time of day and all those variables.  I think there are many of you out there that know what I am talking about and for those of you that don't well let me explain. 

You've found the prefect spot, lush weeds, structure above the water, grass...and now you make the perfect cast.  A frog, mouse, torpedo, whatever your preference is.  As you slowly work that lure back in, making it walk and splash as if it were alive...then a pause...there is an exhilarating feeling knowing that beneath the water a giant bass has his eyes on it and is ready to annihialte it.  As you continue to work it back in you hear a splash and your lure is gone, your heart is beating a little faster and your first instinct is to set that hook but you want to make sure that hogzilla has it all in it's mouth, when you set the hook the acrobatics begin.  He's not very happy with the hook in his mouth and will try every cirque du soleil move to spit it out but you're gonna be patient and calm and bring him across the finish line.

Once you have your fingers wrapped around his lip...he's yours!!! time for another one.
