Fishing

Although not as popular as some of the larger lakes and reservoirs throughout the South, Bee Lake offers excellent chances to catch bass and crappie.  The primary targets of Bee Lake include largemouth bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill.

Bee Lake is well known across the state of Mississippi for its abundant population of crappie.  This species can be targeted across most of the oxbow’s shallow regions.  Anglers should be sure to search around stumps, weed beds, and under cypress trees and near bridge pilings.  Bluegill can be captured in similar locations across Bee Lake. Crappie3.jpg

Largemouth bass can be found during feeding hours near weed beds and under the cypress trees that line much of the shore.  Anglers should target structure like treetops extending out into deeper water or the deeper fishing piers. During summer days, largemouth bass can be targeted in Bee Lake’s deeper regions.

Facilities

The facilities and accommodations of Bee Lake include a tackle and bait shop, a boat ramp, and nearby lodging and grocery stores.  It is important to note that a permit must be purchased from the lake store in order to use the boat ramp.

The Lake

Bee Lake is a oxbow with a total surface area of 400 acres.  It’s waters are fairly shallow and are characterized by a muddy bottom with weed beds.  The shore is lined with cypress trees.  The clarity of the water is stained.

Bee Lake is the ideal fishing location for anglers in search of a body of water that offers exceptional opportunities for target bass and crappie.
