Located in a scenic rural area of northern Mississippi, Sardis Lake is a body of water that offers adventurous fishing adventures to anglers and beautiful views to sightseers. Sardis Lake is a reservoir that is formed by the Sardis Dam with water flowing into and out of the lake from the Tallahatchie River. Fishing
As a body of water with many different species of game fish, Sardis is a popular destination for both Mississippi and out of state anglers. The primary game species of Sardis Lake include largemouth bass, striped bass, white bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, crappie, bluegill, and sunfish. Look for largemouth bass beyond drop-offs throughout the day or near shallow hydrilla beds during feeding times. Harris Landing and Piney Point are both ideal locations for targeting this species. Striped bass can put up an excellent fight and are popular targets among many fishermen. They should be targeted in the deep, open waters of Sardis Lake. Look for birds feeding on bait near the surface to locate schools of striped bass. Panfish of Sardis Lake such as crappie, bluegill, and sunfish can be found near the shallow weed beds and sandy bottoms close to the shore. Shady Cove and Harris Landing are both popular locations for fishermen in search of these small, but tasty, species. The several species of catfish can be found in Sardis Lake’s deepest regions. There are several deep fishing holes near the Sardis Dam that are ideal for targeting all of the lake’s catfish species.
