As one of the premier lakes for freshwater fishing in Alabama, Logan Martin Lake contains a large and diverse array of fish that provide opportunities to fishermen of all skills and preferences. Logan Martin Lake is located in central Alabama near Pell City. It is a reservoir that is formed by two dams off of the Coosa River. The Logan Martin Dam lies on the northern end of the reservoir while the Neely Henry Dam is in the south. Logan Martin Lake attracts numerous visitors in search of great fishing opportunities each year.

Logan Martin Lake has some of the best fishing opportunities of Alabama and the entire southern region of the United States. This reservoir provides a healthy environment so that a large community of game fish can grow and expand. As a result of the lake's health, various populations of fish have rapidly increased their populations. Some of the major game fish species of Logan Martin Lake include largemouth bass, spotted bass, striped bass, channel catfish, blue catfish, flathead catfish, bullhead, white crappie, bluegill, green sunfish, redear sunfish, red drum, black crappie, carp, and bowfin. This plethora of fish species contains both large and small game fish that create the ultimate environment for sport fishing. The largemouth bass is a species that is commonly found throughout various portions of Logan Martin Lake. As they do in most bodies of water across the United States, largemouth bass in Logan Martin Lake reside in hiding spots near weed beds and drop offs. Fishermen targeting this species should travel to an area near Powell's hideaway campground. The stretch of water in front of this campground has a high population of largemouth bass that can be targeted by fishermen in search of a worthy challenge. Anglers should target the weed beds using buzzbaits and the drop offs using deep diving crankbaits. The striped bass of Logan Martin Lake can provide a tough challenge for fishermen of a variety of skill levels due to their ability to put up a fight. This fish can be found in the deep waters near both dams, as well as in the channel near Mays Bend. Bottom rigs can be used for catching this species. Alternatively, anglers can rely on trolling at speeds of 2 to 5 miles per hour. Ideal tackle options include spinners, spoons, and bluefish rigs. Anchovies and shrimp serve as ideal bait choices. The catfish of Logan Martin also help make a day on the water very exciting. All varieties of catfish can be found in fishing holes throughout the lake. Notable locations include the Logan Martin Dam, Neely Henry Dam, Mays Bend, and the area near interstate 20. Once in a proper fishing location, anglers can use bottom rigs to effectively capture a catfish. Due to the large size of many catfish, wire leaders and a line of at least 20 pound test should be used. Crappie can be caught in the shallow waters of Logan Martin Lake in various locations. One of the best areas for catching crappie is the weed beds near Clear Creek Marina. The stretch of water near Lincoln also offers excellent opportunities for crappie fishing. Crappie are best caught using jigs, bobbers, or spinners. Walleye can be caught in these shallow waters as well as the depths of Logan Martin Lake. Fishermen should use deep diving crankbaits and spinners during most situations.

Logan Martin Lake has a total area of 27 square miles. It is 49 miles in length. This body of water has a shore length of 275 miles. At its deepest point, Logan Martin Lake is 110 feet.
