This species is frequently captured at 3 to 5 pounds, but 6 pounders are weighed in on occasion. A medium weight rod with a line of 6 to 12 pounds of test is the best setup. Topwater lures and bobber are great choices. Fly rods may also be used effectively. The largemouth bass is a species that is found in average abundance throughout the reservoir. Anglers who decide to target largemouth bass should use a boat to search the southern and eastern portions of the lake. These areas are filled with coves and aquatic plant beds that serve as the perfect habitats for largemouth bass. Once a fishing location is chosen, a medium weight rod with a line of 10 to 15 pound test should be used. This species can be a strong fighter, so proper preparation is necessary. Tube jigs, imitation shad, buzzbaits, and deep diving crankbaits are ideal tackle options. The walleye is a game fish that is commonly targeted by experienced fishermen who a enjoy a challenge. This species can be found in the deep waters of Wilson Reservoir throughout the entire year. Crankbaits are the best tackle options available for walleye.
