The opportunities for fishing in Stick Marsh Lake are quite plentiful due to a dense population of some of the most popular species. These species can offer an exceptional challenge to even the most experienced of fishermen.  The primary game species of Stick Marsh Lake include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish.  The crappie of Stick Marsh Lake can be found in abundance throughout most of the vegetated and otherwise sheltered areas of the lake.  The Stick Marsh weed beds on the eastern side of the lake are a great place for fishermen to target.  Targeting this area with light tackle from a small boat is a necessary strategy.  The largemouth bass is the most frequently targeted species of Stick Marsh Lake.  Fishermen should search vegetation and obstacles such as submerged timber and other debris in order to find this popular target.  The weed beds near the banks and the waters of the secondary canal in Farm 13 are excellent places to search for largemouth bass.  Stick Marsh Lake has an exceptionally dense population of largemouth bass that will provide plenty of opportunities for excitement.  The smallmouth bass of Stick Marsh Lake also have very large populations.  In order to find this species, fishermen should target the Stick Marsh hydrilla beds, the shallow portions of Farm 13’s canals, and the areas of water near Stick Marsh’s levees. Catfish are not nearly as plentiful as the lake’s bass populations, but there are some opportunities for targeting catfish in certain areas of Stick Marsh Lake.  Fishermen will find that this species can be targeted in the deepest portions of the lake near the main divider canal.  Anglers should attempt to capture this species by using a bottom rig equipped with catfish hooks, weights, and stink baits or live bait.  Another favorite of Stick Marsh Lake is the vast populations of bluegills.  These panfish are nearly as numerous as bass and can be targeted in similar locations.  Fishermen in search of this species should target the weed beds and levees using a boat and light tackle.

Stick Marsh Lake has a total surface area of 6,500 acres.  The maximum depth of the lake is approximately 30 feet.  This depth fluctuates throughout the year depending on rainfall and drought conditions.
