The fish species of Lake Sinclair include many popular gamefish.  The primary game species of Lake Sinclair include largemouth bass, hybrid bass, striped bass, catfish, bluegill, and crappie.  Largemouth bass fishing is a popular and successful endeavor in Sinclair’s waters.  This abundant population can be found in deep waters throughout the lake during the entirety of the day, but it can also be found near shallower weed beds and drop offs during morning and evening feeding hours.  The shorelines near the mouth of the Oconee River and protected waters near the dam are excellent for targeting largemouth bass.  Various forms of light tackle can be used effectively.  Both hybrid and striped bass can be targeted through trolling in deep regions of the lake.  Often targeted by fishermen in search of a challenging experience, these species of bass are considered to be strong fighters and tasty.  Both of these species can be targeted throughout open waters and the area near the Wallace Dam.  Several species of catfish can be targeted in Lake Sinclair, but channel catfish are the most abundant and frequently sought after.  Good locations include Murder Creek, Beaverdam Creek, and the deep holes near the Wallace Dam.  For fishermen in search of a challenging experience, the largest catfish can usually be found in those waters near the dam.  Bluegill and crappie can both be found near weed beds and debris within the lake’s sheltered areas.  This includes creeks, coves, and shorelines.  Little River, Murder Creek, and Beaverdam Creek are all suitable areas for targeting crappie, sunfish, and other panfish.
